Bri Hinojosa Tabatabaee

Senior Grant Writer
Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK

Bri has a passion for the nonprofits! Prior to joining Elevate, she worked with local nonprofits such as the Oklahoma Zoological Society and the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Oklahoma City. Bri has over 10 years of experience in all aspects of fundraising including annual giving, grant management and stewardship. Her nonprofit passions include child well-being, animal welfare and mental health. She was also the Shared Systems Grant Writer for the Office of the Vice President for Research at Oklahoma State University. She was responsible for assisting five institutions with researching grant opportunities and writing proposals.

She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (OSU) where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Broadcasting. Bri also earned her master’s degree from Oklahoma City University in Nonprofit Leadership and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE). She has been volunteering as a mentor for Y-Achievers through her local YMCA for the past four years. As a mentor, Bri helps a group of high school freshmen explore learning styles, career paths, and communication styles to help prepare them for college, vocational or trade school or a career.

Bri and her husband, David, love to travel, hike and spend time with their dog Wrigley Pete. During the fall, you can find her cheering on her OSU Cowboys. Bri also enjoys doing puzzles, eating local and spending time with her niece and nephews. She also secretly loves to organize things!

What is your hidden talent?

My hidden talent is organizing things! Give me a messy closet or cabinet any time. I will pull everything out, categorize them and put things back in an efficient order. It's my zen. IYKYK...The Home Edit girls are my secret besties.

What punctuation mark would you be and why?

I would be a period. I am very factual and I like to get to the point of things. Many probably view the period as the most boring of the punctuation marks, but if we didn't have it words would just flow with no structure.

What is your grammatical pet peeve?

My grammatical pet peeve is when people insert the word "that" in places it does not need to go. If you can read the sentence without it and it still makes sense, remove it. It's just an extra word.

What is your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

I love just being at home with my husband and our dog, Wrigley. It's really our time to slow down. When the weather permits you can also find us hiking or you'll find me on a reformer at Pilates class!
