Bria Cohen

As the Human Resources Specialist at Elevate, Bria is responsible for supporting the Personnel Department by leading efforts related to Talent Strategies, Benefits, and Performance Management. She is very passionate about Employee Engagement/ Recognition and is focused on creating and enhancing employee initiatives.

Before joining Elevate, Bria was an HR Consultant at UPMC Centers for Rehab Services, where she managed employee relations for 1600 employees.

Bria has served as a board member of the NAAAHR (National Association of African Americans in HR). She is a University of Pittsburgh graduate, where she received a BA in Corporate Communications. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from Carlow University.

You can find Bria enjoying time with her family, going on natural walks with her two huskies, or exercising at the gym.

Frank comes to Elevate hoping to help solve complex problems in a data-driven and practical way. He was recently the Operations Team Leader at the Global Language Network where he maintained the rosters for classes in over 20 foreign languages.

Frank is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at Claremont McKenna College. He is currently involved in many organizations on campus but spends most of this time with the CMS swim team.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his dogs, family, reading, and watching movies.

Letese has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources. As the VP of Personnel at Elevate, Letese is responsible for leading the Personnel Department and managing organizational development projects that enhance Elevate’s talent and culture management. She has a strong desire to strengthen the Elevate culture by focusing on inclusion, diversity, and equity.

Before joining Elevate, Letese was an HR Manager at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, where she managed employee relations for 8500 employees.
Letese has served as a board member of the NAAAHR (National Association of African Americans in HR) and NAHSE (National Association of Health Services Executives). Letese is an active member of the Southwestern PA United Way Women’s Leadership Council. Letese is a Tuskegee University graduate, where she received s BS in Business Administration. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from Trinity University and is SPHR and SHRM – SCP certified.

You can find Letese binging-watching movies, listening to audiobooks, taking a dance class, or being silly with her kids when she is not working.

Patrice comes to Elevate with a decade of marketing and communications experience. She has worked within the trade association, nonprofit, and small business sectors, and her experience ranges from leading brand strategies to managing nonprofit partnerships with organizations like Make-A-WishⓇ. Patrice has dedicated her career to connecting small businesses and nonprofit-based organizations with their target audiences through a mix of corporate strategies and grassroots marketing. She has a passion for collaborative strategy development and brand awareness campaigns and thrives when identifying emerging market opportunities and producing high-class content.

Patrice obtained her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Bowie State University and has continued graduate-level coursework at the University of Virginia. Outside of work, Patrice enjoys spending time with her husband and children, traveling, and live music.

Joshua joined Elevate with a drive to continue his career in the nonprofit sector of DC through a client services and development role. After completing his graduate education, he set his sights on continuing to pursue his professional interests in client stewardship, operations, and database management. Prior to joining the Elevate Operations Team, Joshua worked for the Miami City Ballet as a Customer Service Representative, where he helped to manage client data and acted as the first point of contact for the organization with the box office team.

Joshua earned an MA in Philosophy from Boston College and, prior to that, a BA in Philosophy from Florida International University. Throughout college, Joshua was highly involved with a variety of academic organizations and honor societies. He also worked as a DJ for Florida International University’s radio station WRGP — The Roar Miami.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Joshua enjoys reading, tending to his plants, and exploring new music.

Ruthie came to Elevate with a passion for creating meaningful social change, and she is excited to work with Elevate’s amazing clients to get there. Ruthie has a specific interest in creative and sustainable community development practices. While a student, Ruthie spent time in Makhanda, South Africa where she worked with various arts organizations, including The Black Power Station, researching the effects of creative economic activities on socioeconomic development. Her interest in nonprofits began when she interned at Project HOPE, an international nonprofit that works across the health spectrum, and was strengthened through her work with the arts organizations in Makhanda.

Ruthie graduated from the University of Virginia, earning her BA in Economics and Global Development Studies. She loves languages, and has studied Spanish, Arabic, and a little bit of Hebrew.

As a new DC resident, Ruthie loves exploring the city and all it has to offer. In her spare time, Ruthie enjoys spending time outdoors, attending concerts (in a COVID-free world), trying new foods, and partaking in any sort of art activity.

Erin comes to Elevate with a passion to work with nonprofits and a drive to work for the good guys, aka, Elevate’s clients. Prior to joining Elevate, Erin worked for a trade association in Washington, DC; prior to that, she spent time on Capitol Hill as a congressional intern. In both roles, she focused on delivering high quality customer and constituent services.

 

Erin graduated from The University of Vermont, where she received a double BA in Political Science and Economics. During her time at UVM, she spent three semesters performing research on the relationship between politics and the entertainment media. She also spent her last semester working as a Student Researcher for the Vermont Legislative Research Service, examining complex policy issues and providing research reports for State Legislators. 

 

Outside of Elevate, she can be found scrolling through the Dog Spotting Facebook group, consuming insane amounts of coffee, or watching anything John Mulaney related.

Hallie is Elevate’s Supervising Director of Finance and Operations, leading our finance, data,  and technology teams. She brings several years of experience in building out Elevate’s internal infrastructure to this leadership role, as she has held several positions in the department since first joining the company in 2018. Hallie was introduced to Elevate during her time as a fund development intern at the TGR Foundation – a previous client. She also brings experience as the Operations Manager at the American Immigration Council, supporting their Immigration Justice Campaign that works to provide legal representation to immigrants and end immigration detention. She has also worked with Olympic athletes as a Communications Intern at USA Water Polo and as a Corporate Partnerships intern with the Los Angeles Football Club.

Hallie earned her BS in Business Administration from Chapman University in Southern California with a minor in Philosophy, and has a financial leadership certification from Harvard Online Business School. In college, Hallie played NCAA softball for one year, and has a long history of volunteering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Epilepsy Foundation, two causes near and dear to her. While she enjoys walking around DC with a coffee in hand, her heart is on the West Coast as she hails from the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, Hallie is enjoying live music and taking care of her many plants.

Elevate’s first Vice President of New Client Partnerships, Jessica is responsible for all marketing and new business development at Elevate. Leaning into her own experience as a grant writer and her background in nonprofit strategy, program design, and management, Jessica brings a deep understanding of the “pain points” nonprofits face and a strategic approach to addressing these through smart grant programs. 

Jessica joined Elevate in 2016 as a team Director, and has held roles within Elevate’s management and business development teams since 2018. She is an experienced nonprofit professional with a background in corporate and foundation fundraising, program design, strategy, and partnerships. Prior to Elevate, Jessica worked in development and program management roles at the National Recreation and Park Association and the National Environmental Education Foundation, both based in the DC region. She also spent two years in her early career teaching high school biology in Northern Virginia.

A native of Atlanta, Jessica earned an MEd in Secondary Science Education at Georgia State University and a BS in Applied Biology at Georgia Tech.

When not hard at work, you may find Jessica on the river, in the kitchen, buried in an e-book, or traveling to Brooklyn to play “auntie.” Jessica works from her home in Falls Church, Virginia, where she lives with her husband, their son, and as many rescue dogs as the other members of the household will tolerate.

Alayna has been a grant writer and nonprofit consultant for her entire career. She founded Elevate in 2013 to work with a team of grant writers and to make the highest-level development expertise accessible to nonprofit organizations around the country. Since then, she has overseen Elevate’s growth to one of the country’s leading grant writing firms, serving 325 nonprofits since its founding, and employing nearly 70 staff around the country. Today, Alayna sets the organization’s vision and purpose; leads Elevate’s Executive Team; and oversees its core departments. She also works closely with her staff to develop new products and services that will improve the lives of nonprofit leaders.

Alayna graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Philosophy and Public Policy and Honors in Ethics in Society in 2006. In 2015, she became a licensed consultant by the Standards of Excellence in 2015, was named ‘40 under 40’ by Leadership Arlington, and became a member of EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization), the global thought leader on entrepreneurship. Alayna is proud that as a women-owned business, Elevate has been named one of the country’s fastest growing businesses by Inc. 5000 every year it has applied. Alayna is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and American Grant Writers Association.

Alayna has two adorable dogs, both pittie rescues: Tucker Q. Buckner and Greyson Rex Buckner, who like to make a vocal appearance during Zoom calls. She is an avid baker, reader, and podcast aficionado. She can most often be found at Wydown Cafe or one of DC’s other local coffee shops.
