Sarah Wilby

Associate Director & Senior Grant Writer
Hometown: Dunkirk, MD

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Sarah’s passion lies in the performing arts, with a particular emphasis in nonprofit theatre. A founding company member of DC-based Pointless Theatre, Sarah has spent the last decade creating adventurous art in the nation’s capital. As the Special Events Manager of Pointless, she had the opportunity to create memorable events such as fundraiser galas and opening night cocktail receptions for high level donors. Sarah has been thrilled to expand her skill set in development and fundraising, particularly for the arts and arts education, as a Grants Coordinator with Elevate.

Sarah continues to stay actively involved with Pointless Theatre as a staff member and sometimes performer and voiceover artist. She also enjoys volunteering with the Miss District of Columbia organization, helping to prepare local titleholders for the Miss America scholarship competition. Along with the majority of her Pointless colleagues, she received a BA in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.

When she isn’t creating spectacle-based puppet theatre projects, Sarah can most likely be found cooking, baking, or crafting. She developed a passion for the culinary arts at a young age, and her housemates and friends don’t seem to mind trying her creations.  She also loves essentially any DIY project, like knitting, cross-stitch, and refinishing furniture.

What is your hidden talent?

I love making things homemade! Whether it’s cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, refinishing furniture- I love any kind of DIY project!

What punctuation mark would you be and why?

An exclamation point! It conveys energy and excitement. A well-placed exclamation point can change the tone of a sentence and raise the stakes.

What's your favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon?

Working on one of my many crafting projects while something delicious simmers on the stove!
